The Truth About Termites 

*        According to entomologists, termites can cause more damage than tornadoes and other storms combined!

*        According to experts at the University of Florida, termites cost Floridians over $500 million in damages every year! 

*        A colony of 60,000 worker termites can consume a 1-foot section of a pine board in 118 –157 days! 

*        Houses built before 1988 were probably treated with a poison called Chlordane, which kills termites for up to 35 years.  Houses built since the ban of Chlordane in 1988 were pre-treated with chemicals that only repel termites and are effective for only about 5 years. 

*        Two out of three Florida homes built since 1988 will experience termiticide failure.
